Research Focus
The focus of the Molecular Metabolism lab is to develop a better understanding of
how metabolism becomes dysfunctional in metabolic diseases such as cancer, obesity,
and type 2 diabetes, as well as in inherited genetic diseases, including glycogen
and lysosomal storage diseases. The lab then use this information to identify and
test novel treatments for these diseases.
About this Lab
To answer scientific questions the lab utilizes a spectrum of research models ranging from genetically modified mouse models, genetically modified cells, and human samples. The scientific approaches employed include microsurgery techniques, human biopsies, stable and radioactive isotope tracers, high-resolution respirometry, various high-resolution imaging techniques, omics technologies (proteomics, metabolomics, spatialomics), co-immunoprecipitation experiments, western blotting, and various basic biochemistry assays.
