Research Focus
The goal of this laboratory is to investigate the genetic control of immune responses and their alterations that lead to metabolic disease in states of obesity and autoimmunity.
About this Lab
Current research in this laboratory is focused on understanding how lipid metabolism and inflammatory signaling regulate pancreatic beta cell function, and coordinate beta cell and immune cell crosstalk. We employ the use of genetic models, as well as a multitude of molecular techniques, to study inflammation, lipid storage and substrate metabolism in vivo and ex vivo with a focus on the pancreatic islets.
