Research Focus
The primary focus of this lab is the identification of the novel neural circuits, neurotransmitters, and intracellular molecules in the central nervous system that are critical for the control of glucose balance, feeding behavior, energy expenditure, and aging.
About this Lab
The lab combines in vivo calcium imaging, electrophysiology, chemogenetics/optogenetics, and transgenic mouse models to establish the physiological relevance of specific neural networks in diabetes and obesity. On going projects include hypothalamic glucose-sensing neurons regulate glucose homeostasis, asprosin and metabolism control, and 5-HT neural circuits and eating disorders.
