Research Interests
Dr. Heden is director of the Molecular Metabolism Lab. His lab utilizes an integrative (multi tissue) and translational (cells, rodents, humans) approach to better understand the underlying mechanisms by which nutrition and physical activity alter the risk for metabolic diseases such as cancer, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and brain diseases. His lab is also interested in developing nutritional, exercise, or genetic therapies that can be used to treat inherited metabolic diseases including glycogen storage diseases and lysosomal storage diseases.
