Research Focus
The goal of this laboratory is to understand the role of physical activity and weight loss in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases such as diabetes, disability, mental health, cancer, and heart disease.
About this Lab
The Preventive Medicine lab conducts research to explore the effects of physical activity and exercise training on individuals across the lifespan and in athletes and tactical athletes, individuals with overweight/obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cancer. In addition, the lab oversees the scientific aspects of exercise testing including protocol design and data analysis and interpretation. The laboratory is supported by federal grants, internal funding, and industry contracts.
