Research Focus
The goal of the Healthy Aging & Metabolism Lab is to identify the age-related changes in metabolism and body composition that occur in older adults, with specific emphasis on women affected by menopause.
About this Lab
Research topics currently under investigation include:
- Identifying how the loss of ovarian function alters depot-specific fat accumulation and metabolic health
- Examining the cellular and molecular mechanisms by which sleep restriction (disruption) alters peripheral tissue metabolism during menopause
- Developing tailored treatment strategies (e.g., diet, exercise, therapeutics, etc.) to promote healthy aging and longevity
