The mission of this core is to provide biostatistics and data management expertise and resources to enhance reliable and objective research at Pennington Biomedical Research Center.

The Biostatistics Group provides an array of statistical support for center investigators in basic, clinical, and population sciences. The services provided range from general consultation to serving as data analysis coordinating centers for large, multi-site studies. Our team is comprised of three faculty level biostatisticians and four master’s degree level biostatisticians, specializing in consultation on study design, sample size determination and power analyses, data analysis and interpretation, and reporting of results for manuscripts, presentations, and reports.

We also provide services to conduct data management for studies and serve as the biostatisticians of record for Data Safety and Monitoring Boards/Observational Study Monitoring Boards. By merging statistical expertise with an understanding of biological science, we work collaboratively with scientists to drive discoveries in obesity, metabolism, cardiovascular disease, healthy aging, and nutrition.

The faculty within the Biostatistics Group are all members of the Louisiana Clinical and Translational Science Center (LA CaTS) Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design (BERD) core and have affiliations with the UAB CCTS.
