A key focus of the lab is the creation of interventions to promote better health outcomes in diverse populations.
About this Lab
The goal of the Public Health Genomics and Health Equity Lab is to increase health equity through the exploration of the connection between genetic ancestry and environmental risk for chronic disease. To accomplish this, the lab conducts behavioral intervention to assess if knowledge of genetic risk profile for cardiometabolic disorders promotes lifestyle change or if behavioral resources and interventions alone contribute to lifestyle behavior change. Additionally, the lab is developing a digital genetics education platform to increase health literacy and community engagement in African American communities.
