Research Interests

Dr. Hu's research interests are focused on the role of lifestyle factors, lifestyle intervention, biomarkers, genomics, epigenomics, metabolomics, obesity, gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and their interactions on the risk of several chronic diseases, including diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke, and heart failure. Dr. Hu is collaborating with several large-scale epidemiological studies and clinical trials, including the SWIFT study (Study of Women, Infant Feeding and Type 2 Diabetes After GDM Pregnancy), the LEAD cohort study (Louisiana Experiment Assessing Diabetes outcomes), Tianjin Gestational Diabetes Prevention Program, Tianjin Gestational Diabetes Observational Study, and the FINRISK (also called FINMONICA) Study.
