RESEARCH INTERESTS

Total energy expenditure is crucially regulated by central thermoregulatory pathways that receive nutritional, hormonal, and environmental signals to determine the overall sympathetic output to various effector organs. Thus, thermoregulation is an essential component for energy homeostasis and body weight regulation. My research focuses on following areas using various transgenic mouse models combined with highly sophisticated viral tools, such as chemogenetics and optogenetics:

1) Thermoregulatory circuits and mechanisms mediated by leptin receptor (LepRb) neurons in the preoptic area (POA).
2) Identification of novel genes and neuronal populations involved in energy homeostasis.
3) Neural substrates and mechanisms controlling energy balance.
