Volunteers
Pennington Biomedical Research Center is recognized in the research community as an
outstanding enrolling and retention site. Each year we average over 7,000 phone screens
and 2,000 screening visits, while enrolling 1,000 participants in more than 20 new
studies. The retention rate across studies averages 80% or better. Pennington Biomedical
is highly adept in recruiting diverse populations including high rates of minority
and gender enrollment. Over the last 20 years we have averaged 35% minority enrollment
across studies.
We pride ourselves on meeting or exceeding enrollment goals and are constantly creating
collaborations in the community to boost enrollment and increase participation of
subjects with specific disease states, such as diabetes and high-risk cardiovascular
patients.
Pennington Biomedical maintains an internal database of our volunteer information.
This database houses basic demographic data (including age and gender), health history,
and BMI. It also includes anthropometric data on all participants that have screened
for studies over the last 20 years. This database can be queried for study populations
of specific trials and is a great recruiting tool that minimizes the number of screen
fails. It currently contains data for over 78,000 participants across various populations.
