Summary:
The Pennington Biomedical Research Center (PBRC) is in the process of building a world class imaging research program. As one step in building momentum for this effort, and identifying the critical research areas to be addressed through the use of imaging, PBRC will be hosting a two day
Scientific Symposium on March 29-30, 2010 to bring ogether experts in imaging research. This conference will focus on the use of the latest imaging technology and techniques to address several major health concerns. Brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and other agerelated dementias, as well as the cognitive decline associated with aging will be discussed. Additionally, the use of imaging technologies to understand the basis and consequences of obesity and diabetes on overall health will be discussed. This conference is unique in that it will bring together scientists working on neuroscience and metabolism, which
techniques, but whose collaboration could likely have a significant impact on science and health. Speakers and attendees will include researchers whose work focuses on different scientific areas (brain versus metabolic processes in other organ systems); but who use similar technologies(imaging). As the result of this meeting we hope that novel uses of imaging
technology will be identified, and key areas in need of scientific explorationwill be identified.
