Timothy Gilbert, M.D.

Medical Director: Timothy Gilbert, M.D.

Dr. Gilbert is a native of Lake Charles, Louisiana. He is a graduate of Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He then completed an internal medicine residency with LSU HSC in Baton Rouge, followed by a fellowship in endocrinology and metabolic disease at Ochsner Health Systems in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Dr. Gilbert cares for patients with various complex endocrine disorders but has maintained a large focus on the management of type 1 and type 2 diabetes. He is very progressive in his utilization of continuous glucose monitoring as well as the use of automated insulin delivery.

Dr. Gilbert has served in many educational, advisory, and administrative roles throughout his career. He joins Pennington Biomedical Research Center after 18 years of private practice, where he serves as medical director of the Pennington Biomedical Outpatient Endocrine and Diabetes Clinic and as a clinical research physician.


Sheri Ammons, F.N.P.

Sheri Ammons, F.N.P.

Sheri, a dedicated Family Nurse Practitioner and Board-Certified Advanced Diabetes Manager with over 10 years of experience, brings a wealth of expertise to her patients. Specializing in Endocrinology, Sheri is committed to providing comprehensive and compassionate care. A native of Baton Rouge, Sheri is a graduate of Redemptorist High School, Southeastern Louisiana University, and University of South Alabama.

Her extensive background in managing chronic conditions such as diabetes and obesity allows her to offer personalized treatment plans by combining medication intervention with lifestyle and nutritional counseling. Sheri is known for her empathetic and patient-centered approach. She is excited to help her patients achieve their health goals.


Katherine Cash, RDN, CDCES

Katherine Cash, RDN, CDCES

Katherine is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator. She received her BS in Dietetics from LSU and completed her internship at McNeese State University. She is a member of the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists. Katherine specializes in assisting patients in the management of diabetes to improve their health and well-being. She is trained and certified in a variety of insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring devices to meet the needs of her patients.


Hanh Gutowski, R.N., BSN

Hanh Gutowski, R.N., BSN

Hanh Gutowski is a registered nurse and certified Diabetes Prevention Program Lifestyle Coach with over 30 years of experience in the Baton Rouge and New Orleans area. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and has dedicated her career to wellness, metabolic health, and diabetes prevention. Throughout her career, Hanh has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including Executive Wellness, Metabolic Health, and Diabetes Prevention clinics. She has also served as a Research Nurse for multiple grants and studies focused on diabetes and Diabetes prevention. Her extensive expertise in patient care, research, and chronic disease management makes her a valuable member of the Pennington Endocrine and Diabetes Clinic team.
