Louisiana’s Childhood Obesity Initiative, Greaux Healthy, Visits Lake Charles on March 5

Members of the media are invited to attend a press conference formally introducing Greaux Healthy to the Lake Charles community. Greaux Healthy is an initiative by LSU’s Pennington Biomedical Research Center in partnership with the State of Louisiana focused on preventing and treating childhood obesity in Louisiana.
Greaux Healthy is stopping in Lake Charles as part of its statewide campaign to expand awareness and reach through community engagement, mobile outreach and evidence-based tools.

WHY: More than 1-in-3 children in Louisiana are living with overweight or obesity. Greaux Healthy is taking a bold step to reach the people who shape the health of our communities: educators, healthcare providers and local leaders. Through its statewide “Road Sheaux” campaign, Greaux Healthy has been traveling across all nine of Louisiana’s health regions to engage those at the front lines of prevention and care, equipping them with evidence-based tools and resources to support the healthy growth and development of future generations.
