Study Purpose

The purpose of the URCORT research study is to learn if we can better identify young adults who are at risk for developing Type 2 Diabetes.

About the Study

Eligible participants will be asked to perform three 24-hour urine collections at home. Urine collections will be needed at the baseline visit, the 12 month follow-up, and the 24 month follow-up.

After each collection, the container should be returned to the study coordinator at Pennington Biomedical. The process will be described to you in detail verbally and written instructions will also be provided.

In addition, participants will be asked to have 3 oral glucose tolerance tests (baseline visit, 12 month follow up, and 24 month follow up). Blood will be collected before and at specific times over a 3 hour period after consuming a 10 ounce sugar drink.
