PREMO Study
Study Type
NutritionStudy Purpose
The PREMO research study will evaluate if reducing the amount of meat in meals by replacing it with either potato or pulses (beans, lentils) can improve blood sugar and blood fats such as cholesterol and triglycerides. Improving these health markers has been shown to prevent diabetes and heart disease.
About the Study
Once enrolled, participants will be provided with all meals for eight weeks. Study participants will be required to eat only the foods provided and no other foods.
Participants will be given a diet in which meat is partially replaced with either potato or pulses. To optimize study results, the specific diets are determined through a procedure similar to flipping a coin.
