REALPA Study
Study Type
Healthy Aging & Alzheimer's DiseaseStudy Purpose
Though it is well known that physical activity is beneficial for our health, many older adults remain very inactive for the majority of their day. This inactivity can lead to the development of serious medical conditions.
The REALPA research study will evaluate if 3 different physical activity programs, tailored to older adults, can help improve muscle strength and lower the risk of developing heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and other chronic health conditions.
About the Study
Potential participants will visit the Pennington Biomedical Outpatient Clinic and Louisiana State University (LSU) for 2 screening visits prior to enrolling in the study.
Once enrolled, participants will be assigned to one of 3 exercise groups. Each 16-week exercise program will take place at LSU.
