Diabetes/PreventionStudy Purpose
The DYNAMMO research study aims to understand how exercise affects the way our bodies convert the food we eat into energy.
About the Study
Once enrolled, participants will be randomly assigned to either an exercise or standard of care program. Both groups will receive exercise training. Both groups require 4 overnight stays in the Pennington Biomedical Inpatient Unit.
Study Design
- 2 screening visits
- 6 study visits, including 4 overnight stays
- 5 days per week for 12 weeks for exercise
- Medical history
- Height and weight
- Vital signs (pulse and blood pressure)
- EKG
- Questionnaires
- Urine Pregnancy Test (women of child bearing potential)
- Blood draws
- Exercise Tests
- Insulin Sensitivity Test
- Oral Glucose Tolerance Test
- DXA Scan (to measure bone, muscle and body fat)
- Muscle Biopsies
- Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR)

Study Qualifications
- Be between 18 to 60 years old
- Have a Body Mass Index (BMI) between 25 - 50 calculate your BMI
- Not be a smoker

Study Duration
Participation in this research study will last approximately 18 weeks.
Compensation
Compensation of up to $1200 is offered for the completion of this study.
