Apple & Pear Study
Study TypeGeneral Health & Wellbeing
Study PurposeThe purpose of the APPLE & PEAR research study is to determine why women carry weight differently and how it may affect health.
About the StudyDid you know that where you carry your weight may affect your health?
The body shape of women varies between having the majority of fat either above the waist (apple shape) or below the waist (pear shape). Since pear-shaped women tend to have better health, we will study what restricts apple-shaped women from being pear-shaped at the cellular level and thus having the same level of health. The study will look at differences in the formation of new fat cells between the fat tissue from the abdomen and the thigh.
