The Comparative Biology Core at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center anticipates an opening for a Laboratory Technical Assistant 1. Laboratory Technical Assistants in the Comparative Biology Core provide daily husbandry care for research animals including daily health checks, cleaning cages, providing food and water, must be able to lift 50 pounds, and collect and maintain records. This is a full-time 40 hour per week position with occasional overtime on weekends and holidays. A complete benefits package including health insurance and retirement options. FUNCTION OF WORK: To perform a limited number of routine laboratory duties. LEVEL OF WORK: Entry. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Close from higher level laboratory or medical personnel. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None LOCATION OF WORK: Clinical laboratories, educational or health care facilities; Statewide. JOB DISTINCTIONS: Differs from Laboratory Technical Assistant 2 by the lack of experienced level responsibilities.
