Study Shows Association Between Diabetes and Stroke in Women But Not in Men
New research published in Diabetologia (the journal of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes) shows that diabetes in women is associated with an increased risk of stroke, whereas the data do not show the same association among men. The research is by Dr. Wenhui Zhao (the first author), Dr. Gang Hu and colleagues at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA.

Individuals Age 18-65 and Not Currently Involved in a Structured Exercise Program Asked to Participate
BATON ROUGE, LA – Pennington Biomedical Research Center announced today that it is conducting a new clinical trial to compare the effects of physical activity and lifestyle changes on energy balance and how these changes may impact an individual’s body composition. This study, called E-MECHANIC: Examination of Mechanisms of Exercise-Induced Weight Compensation, is open to adults age 18-65 who are not currently involved in a structured exercise program.
