| Study Purpose |
| The purpose of the E-MECHANIC Trial is to compare the effect of physical activity and lifestyle changes on energy balance and how these changes may impact an individual’s body composition. |

| Study Design |
Number of visits: Study procedures: Eligible participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: Participants will complete a six (6) month exercise intervention at the Pennington Biomedical Fitness Center. Those enrolled in one of the exercise groups will come to the Fitness Center 3-5 times per week for approximately 60 minutes a session. (Alterations of this schedule can be arranged). Each week during the intervention, weight, medication usage, and adverse events will be recorded. The exercise groups will not be provided with dietary information. The Healthy Living Group will receive weekly health tips through text message, email or postal mail. It will also include monthly seminars at PBRC on health-related topics. All study related procedures will be provided at no cost to participants. |
