| Description: The Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a research facility of the Louisiana State University System, is the largest obesity research center in the world. It is located in the capital (Baton Rouge city) of Louisiana. The institute has an outstanding park-like campus and state-of-the art research facility. There are 2 positions open for postdoctoral fellows in the Antioxidant and Gene Regulation laboratory. Those positions are funded by NIH sponsored projects for the study of inflammation in adipose tissue. The positions are: (1) how adipose tissue hypoxia induces chronic inflammation in obesity; (2) how inflammation inhibits adipogenesis. | Qualifications: Ph.D. or MD, any nationality, strong motivation for advanced academic career, research experience in one or more of the following areas: adipose tissue biology, signal transduction, inflammation, glucose and lipid metabolism, vascular biology, and biochemistry. The candidate should have skills in cell culture and molecular biology. Following are used routinely in the lab such as Western blot, qRT-PCR, kinase assay, plasmid construction, gene delivery by virus, and transgenic mice. The successful candidate will receive advanced training in molecular metabolism in the positions. They are expected to be independent investigators after the training. Salary starts at $37,000 and will compensates with research experience. Application will be accepted until the positions are filled.
