RESEARCH INTERESTS

Skeletal muscle loss is the major component of many chronic diseases including cirrhosis, obesity, NAFLD and adversely affects survival, and quality of life. Despite increasing recognition that management of muscle loss is likely to improve outcomes, there are no established and effective therapies to reverse skeletal muscle loss in cirrhosis. Our current studies focus on the upstream regulation of a novel regulatory crosstalk between the cytoribosome and mitoribosome gene regulation and ß-catenin-cMYC signaling during skeletal muscle atrophy.
