Join us for free Diabetes Screenings

Released: Wednesday, October 04, 2017

Join us October 12 for a free diabetes screening at the LSU Student Union hosted by Pennington Biomedical and the LSU Student Health Center. We are offering glucose and A1C testing to the first 100 people who stop by!

WHAT: Free diabetes screening
WHEN: October 12
7:30 am to 12 noon
WHERE:  LSU's Student Union, Vieux Carre room
(follow the free screening signs!)
COST:  FREE!
WHY:  Knowing your blood sugar levels can help determine your risk for diabetes.  If you have diabetes or are at risk for the disease, there are steps you can take to prevent the disease from developing or progressing further.
NOTE:  It's preferred, but not necessary, for you to fast before your diabetes screening.

DIABETES RISK FACTORS:

  • Family history of diabetes
  • Being overweight or obese
  • Not physically active
  • A history of gestational diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • Increasing age (everyone should be screened for diabetes after the age of 45)
