The Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a research facility of Louisiana State University System, seeks a qualified applicant for the position of Research Associate. This position will jointly serve the Skeletal Muscle Metabolism Laboratory and the Islet Biology Laboratory. The primary duties of this position will entail working with rodent models to maintain and orchestrate breeding colonies, genotype mice, execute in vivo characterization studies relevant to obesity/diabetes research and perform surgeries on animals. Additionally, the individual in this position will be required to perform experiments to detect expression of genes and proteins, run cell culture studies and assist in the measurement of substrate metabolism.
Applicants should have at least a BachelorÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s degree, ideally in a scientific discipline and at least two years of experience working in a lab. Candidates must have experience working with animals in a research setting and should have basic laboratory skills required for genotyping. Qualified applicants must be organized and able to work independently in research design, execution, troubleshooting, and critical data analysis, as well as have excellent oral and written communication skills.
