The Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a research facility of the Louisiana State University System, is seeking 2 qualified and motivated individuals to fulfill the role of a Research Specialist within the Behavior Technology Laboratory. These individuals must be self-motivated and have an astute attention to detail as well as the ability to work independently on multiple projects. The overall charge of this position is to assist in the management and organization of clinical research studies within the laboratory as well as coordinate technology development and promotion efforts related to behavioral technology. Daily responsibilities will be dedicated to support several federally funded trials involving body image, eating disorders, weight management, weight gain prevention, and technology development and promotion. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is essential and required for success in this position. Responsibilities include maintaining adherence to study protocols and ethical guidelines, interacting with study participants on various protocols, administering self-report questionnaires and semi-structured interviews, contributing to the writing of research documents and grant applications, writing reports to funding agencies and presentation preparation. In addition, skills related to technology development and promotion are preferred including but not limited to social media, marketing experience, website/app content development and writing experience.
Candidates must have earned at least a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Neurology, Kinesiology, Nutrition, or a related science. Experience with administrative responsibilities, data analysis and working in multidisciplinary teams is preferred. Experience working in technology teams, researching and writing subject matter content, and coordinating development efforts for technology is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Access, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Contribute is preferred. Experience with social media outlets, e.g. facebook, twitter, tumblr, wordpress, is preferred. Additionally, the successful applicant should have an interest and/or basic familiarity of the Laboratory's subject matter and/or experience in the following area(s): body image, eating disorders, obesity, behavioral technology.
