Diabetes/PreventionStudy Purpose
The purpose of the Vital research study is to evaluate the effect of the WW (formerly known as Weight Watchers) program on blood sugar control.
About the Study
Eligible participants will undergo 1-2 baseline assessments that will last approximately 60 minutes and be conducted at Pennington Biomedical Research Center.
Upon completion of baseline assessments, eligible participants will receive a voucher code that provides 6 months of access to the WW program and instructions for redeeming the code. The program will include access to weekly Virtual Workshops and the WW App.
Workshops, led by one WW Coach and one WW Guide will remain consistent across 24 weeks. Each Workshop will last 30-60 minutes and will include a new topic each week related to building healthy habits, behavioral skills to support behavior change, check-ins to discuss the previous week, and group discussion on the week’s topic.
Follow up assessments will occur at 12 weeks and 24 weeks.

- Medical history
- Height and weight
- Waist circumference
- Vital signs (pulse and blood pressure, etc.)
- Blood draw
- Self-report measures

Study Qualifications
- Have a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes
- Be between the ages of 18 – 70 years old
- Have a BMI between 27-50 calculate your BMI
- Have access to an iOS smartphone device with internet

Study Duration
Participation in the study will last approximately 24 weeks.Compensation
