METOSA Study

Study Type

General Health & Wellbeing

Study Purpose

The purpose of this study is to compare the metabolic effects of metformin versus a placebo in patients with obstructive sleep apnea.

About the Study

Two screening visits to PBRC will determine eligibility. The first screen will last approximately 2 hours and the second screen will require an overnight stay to complete a sleep study.

Eligible participants will have 4 study visits, approximately 1 month apart. Participants will be provided equipment for positive airway pressure therapy for the treatment of sleep apnea. Once participation in the study is completed, participants will be allowed to keep this equipment. The participant will also be asked to take a daily study drug or a placebo, which will be provided.
