Study Purpose

The ALTER research study will assess the safety and effectiveness of a study product for the potential improvement of insulin sensitivity associated with type 2 diabetes.

About the Study

This study is designed to test whether the study product, which will be taken as tablets twice daily, can improve the body’s response to naturally produced insulin.

The study consists of 4 total visits to the Pennington Biomedical outpatient and inpatient clinics. These visits will take place over a period of approximately 7 weeks.

Study Design

Number of Visits:

  • 1 screening visit
  • 3 study visits, including 2 separate overnight stays at Pennington Biomedical

Procedures:

  • Medical history
  • Vital signs (pulse and blood pressure)
  • Physical exam
  • Pregnancy tests
  • Blood tests
  • Meal tolerance tests

Study Qualifications

To qualify for this research study, participants should:

  • Be 18 to 70 years old
  • Be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and under the care of a healthcare professional for its management

Study Duration

Participation in this research study will last approximately 7 weeks.

Compensation

Compensation of up to $435 is offered for completion of this study.
