POINTS Study
Study Type
Weight Loss/ObesityStudy Purpose
A person’s genetics (body characteristics that are passed down through families) are believed to affect how their body reacts to different types of diets. Some people may see more weight loss from eating fewer carbs and others may lose more weight from eating fewer fats.
The POINTS research study will test if two different diets can affect how much weight a person loses depending on their body characteristics.
About the Study
The study consists of weekly visits to Pennington Biomedical for 12 weeks. Eligible participants will provide the study team with the results from a completed genealogy test to determine which diet their body may react to better. Pennington Biomedical will provide funds to complete the test if you have not taken one before.
Participants will then be randomly assigned to a diet group and receive a meal plan to follow for the duration of the study.
