Study Type

Women's Health

Study Purpose

Menopause is a natural process where women’s menstrual cycles permanently stop. Estrogen, a hormone in the body that is produced by the ovaries, significantly decreases during menopause. This decrease in estrogen may lead to changes in metabolism.

The RESUME research study will evaluate women who plan to have their ovaries removed (called an “oophorectomy” surgery), to examine the hormonal changes that occur after the surgery and its effect on the body.

About the Study

Once enrolled in the study, participants will undergo 6 study visits, including 4 brief study visits lasting approximately 45 minutes each and 2 study visits lasting approximately 3 hours.
