Study PurposeThe purpose of this research study is to evaluate the effect of an investigational medicine versus placebo in lowering postprandial glucose (blood sugar level 2 hours after eating) in pediatric patients with Type 2 diabetes.
About the Study
Do you have Type 2 diabetes and are between the ages of 10-17?
If so, you may qualify for a diabetes research study at Pennington Biomedical Research Center.
Until recently, Type 2 diabetes was almost exclusively an adult disease. Coinciding with the increasing prevalence of obesity in children, the incidence of Type 2 diabetes in children and adolescents has markedly increased to the point that it accounts for as many as one third of all the new cases of diabetes diagnosed in adolescents.
- 1 Screening visit
- 3 Inpatient visits (each approximately 8 hours)
- 1 Follow-up clinic visit
- Physical exam and vitals
- Blood draws
- Investigational medicine (injection)

Eligible participants will be randomly assigned to one of two intervention groups
All study-related medicine and procedures will be provided at no cost to the participant.
- Age: 10-17 years old
- Weight: BMI (≤50 and must weigh at least 110 lbs.) calculate your BMI
- Diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes at least 3 months prior to screening
Study DurationUp to 60 days
CompensationEarn up to $300 for participation.
