The Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a research institute of Louisiana State University System, seeks applicants for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in the Nutrient Sensing and Adipocyte Signaling Laboratory. A qualified applicant will pursue an NIH-sponsored project aimed at understanding the roles of a recently identified transcriptional coactivator involved in the regulation of cellular energy metabolism. The scope of the project will include (1) investigation of the molecular mechanisms by which this transcriptional coactivator regulates energy metabolism, (2) genome wide gene expression and ChIP-seq analyses, and (3) metabolic phenotyping of transgenic mice. We employ a broad panel of techniques including mammalian cell culture, transfection and infection, Western blot, RNA extraction and qPCR, confocal microscopy, immunohistochemistry, and whole body animal phenotyping.
Qualified applicants must have a Ph.D degree in biology, cell and molecular biology, nutrition or a related field. Excellent communication skills are an essential qualification and experience in the following areas is also necessary: molecular biology, mammalian cell culture, and mouse handling including mouse phenotype analysis.
