Dr. Wang is interested in several areas of research, including:

1. To study of the insulin resistant mechanism in obese and diabetic animal model and subjects.

2. To determine how calorie restriction regime affects insulin signal transduction pathway in the muscles of rodents and monkey. His laboratory has observed that calorie restriction significantly increased muscle IRS-1, IRS-2 protein abundance and PI 3 kinase activity in the monkey muscle.

3. To investigate the effect of alternative medicine (herbs such as Phytomedics, an alcoholic extract of Artemisia dracunculus) on insulin signal and glucose metabolism in cultured human skeletal muscle cells.

4. To analyze effect of micronutrition -trace element such as chromium, magnesium deficiency on insulin signal transduction pathway and AMPK pathway in primary cultured human skeletal muscle cells.

5. To measure sugar cane fiber supplementation prevents high fat diet induced obesity in C57BL/6J mice. Effect of dietary fiber on glucose and lipid metabolism in high-fat-diet fed mice (Pilot study of sugar cane fiber-functional food project).

6. To study the mechanism of human adenovirus 36 (Ad-36) results in obese and alters cellular signaling in cultured cells.
