| Description: The Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a research facility of Louisiana State University, seeks a part-time Nurse Practitioner for the Inpatient Clinic. The role of this position is to provide patients with direct healthcare and perform research procedures under the supervision of a licensed physician. This position will schedule laboratory studies, diagnostic procedures, and explain to volunteers the necessary preparation, nature and anticipated effects of protocols to the patient. The applicant will need to be proficient in starting IV lines as well as other various procedures. Applicant must have knowledge of clinical research procedures. In addition, this individual will serve as assistant to the Nursing Supervisor in supervising all services', functions and activities of the nursing staff working in the inpatient clinic. This includes interpreting policies, procedures, standards and regulations for personnel, patients, medical staff and the public. Other daily functions may include adjusting staff for adequate coverage, consulting with directors or other clinical administration on staffing needs, serving as a clinical resource and professional role model, investigator of complaints of patients, nursing staff and medical staff. The candidate must have strong leaderships skills, be able to multi-task, and able to communicate effectively with physicians, staff and other department heads. |
| Qualifications: Masters Degree in Nursing, Possession of current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Louisiana, Board Certified as an advanced Practitioner of Nursing (ANA, NAACOG, NAPNAP, ANCC, AANP). |
