About the Study

Can exercise lower the risk of developing diabetes in African-American Men?

It is estimated that between 15% and 20% of African Americans have diabetes. Diabetes is associated with heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure and other health issues that affect African-Americans in high rates. Studies have shown that individuals who increase levels of physical activity and exercise have a lower risk of developing diabetes.
