About the Study

Are you 50 years or older and concerned about your blood pressure?

Pennington Biomedical Research Center is looking for individuals to participate in a blood pressure research study. The purpose of this study is to determine whether maintaining blood pressure levels lower than current recommendations further reduces the risk of heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, chronic kidney disease, and a decline in cognitive function. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups, Intensive blood pressure goal group and Standard blood pressure goal group. Both groups will have medication adjustments until their blood pressure has reached the goal of their group.

Participants in this study must be aged 50 years or older. During your time as a participant, you will be asked to attend one screening visit and clinic visits throughout the study. All study-related blood pressure medications and medical tests will be provided at no cost to you and you may be compensated up to $450 for participation.
