BeatGene:
A study investigating genetic factors that may contribute to individuals’ eating behaviors, body weight and binge eating.
SCD-1:
A 24 hour overnight diabetes study examining excessive fat storage within the muscle.
Chromium II:
A 28-week diabetic research study testing Chromium, a natural element, which may improve the body’s metabolism and help manage its blood sugar levels.
CALERIE II:
A research study to see if diet can slow aging, promote health and maintain vitality.
PBRC is recruiting women who are first or second time mothers to participate in a research study comparing post-partum weight loss related to breastfeeding and hormone levels.

Study Qualifications
- Within 4-8 weeks of giving birth to first or second child
- Be a non-smoker
- Healthy
- Some meds ok
Study Duration
1 day
Study Compensation
Participants will be compensated $100 at the end of the study.

The Pennington Biomedical Research Center is currently looking for participants to participate in study looking at the measurement of food intake, energy expenditure, and weight loss.
Study Design
Phase I – 3 weeks
- Eat one meal at the Center for 2 days
- Wear 2 devices that record activity for one week
- Will take pictures of their food for approximately 1 week
Pennington Biomedical Research Center is enrolling volunteers for a 16-week weight loss study to determine if limiting dietary methionine, one of the 10 essential amino acids, causes weight loss and/or improves glucose metabolism.
Study Design
- 2 screening visits to determine eligibility
- 9 clinic visits
- All volunteers will work closely with a Pennington research dietitian to follow a very structured meal plan.
Study Qualifications
- Age: 21-60
- Overweight
- No chronic diseases
- Non-smoker
- Some medications ok
Study Duration
16 weeks
Study Compensation
Participants will be compensated $1500 at the study completion.
